Sangita Manek
Sangita is an experienced Partner in the Will, Trust and Estate Disputes Team at Irwin Mitchell LLP and acts for HNWs in contentious trust and probate matters. She has a strong reputation in the London region and a reputation for being tenacious for her clients. She is considered to be the go-to litigator for TOLATA claims, in relation to which she writes regularly.
About Sangita
Sangita is known amongst colleagues, clients and counsel to be an excellent strategist and straight-talking litigator with an enviable success rate in both the High Court and County Court. She takes a very professional and practical approach to cases and clients who appreciate her strong but compassionate approach to disputes, addressing issues from all angles to achieve practical solutions in line with the client’s objectives.
She has spent her entire career working within Private Client litigation having been admitted to the Roll of Solicitors in 1997 and is a long-standing member of ATCAPS. She regularly delivers seminars to other lawyers and writes regularly for various “glossy” publications (Mayfair Life, Amersham Life, Beaconsfield Life).
In addition to her role above, Sangita volunteers her time for other causes. She has historically been actively involved in the recruitment, retention and training of trainee solicitors and was, at her last firm the Deputy Money Laundering Officer. She has recently been elected to the London seat of the Law Society Council where she hopes to raise awareness in relation to matters that impact London lawyers. She also acts as Legal Trustee for PACT which is a charity supporting adoption and women who have suffered domestic violence.
What services do you provide?
I regularly act for high-net-worth individuals and represents large estates both in bringing and defending claims on a full range of services from initial pre-action negotiations through to mediation and if necessary, all the way to trial, regularly dealing with difficult and emotive cases. I also have a special interest in cohabitee disputes (also known as TOLATA claims) in relation to the ownership of property and am often considered the go-to litigator in this area of work, having written extensively about making claims for beneficial interests in property.
I deal with providing legal services in relation to disputes arising from Probate matters. I specialise in contentious probate disputes including the following:
o Disputed Wills,
o Breach of trust claims
o Administration of estate disputes
o Claims under the Inheritance (Provision for Family & Dependants) Act 1975.
o TOLATA Claims

I have always been an avid supporter of the promotion of women in business and in particular, the importance of financial independence and looking after our mental wellbeing in what was traditionally a male world.
